Craft
Lewis Prosser calls himself an absurdist basketmaker, and his work lives up to the title. Oversized willow sculptures, wearable costumes, and performative objects abandon utility for wit and inquiry. Basketry becomes a living language—plastic before plastic—that probes labor, material, and tradition without losing its craft soul.
Self-taught in rural Wales, Prosser builds from deep knowledge of the technique, then bends it. Absurdity lets him hold contradictions: ancient yet contemporary, functional yet useless. His pieces invite laughter and reflection, proving craft can evolve when you respect its rules enough to break them.
