Design

This collaboration between Made and the Barbican distills the estate's architectural language into a cohesive line of furniture and lighting. From the curved side panels of the Dual chairs to the Coffer ceiling lights, each piece references a specific element of the brutalist complex, making the collection a study in translating monumental scale into domestic objects.

The design team drew on Miriam Howitt's original interiors, blending Scandinavian restraint with bold Dutch accents. The result is a warm, material palette that softens the raw concrete aesthetic, offering furniture that feels both sculptural and livable. For design enthusiasts, it's a thoughtful reminder of how architecture can inform everyday objects.
