Film
Shot on 16mm in Brandenburg's forests, Dmitry Khmelnitsky's short film follows two people circling each other, unable to speak directly. Their recorded voices become a physical cassette passed between hands—an intimate, analog container for what remains unsaid. The grainy footage and non-linear editing turn memory into texture.
Khmelnitsky works with non-actors and leaves room for uncertainty, letting silence and sound carry the emotional weight. Young Nights is less a love story than a portrait of recognition: the rare moment of being truly seen. Its raw, nocturnal imagery lingers like a half-remembered conversation.
