Installation
Lucy Sparrow transforms a 4,000-square-foot gallery into a fully stocked 1990s supermarket, complete with felt produce, meats, and packaged goods. The immersive installation at The Momentary in Bentonville, Arkansas, draws on the nostalgia of convenience store culture, with every item meticulously stitched and stuffed by hand.
Sparrow's work evokes warmth and playfulness, turning everyday consumer goods into soft, smiley companions. The exhibition includes custom soundscapes and intercom announcements, reinforcing the sensory experience. It's a joyful critique of consumerism that invites visitors to rediscover wonder in the aisles.
