For the 500th anniversary of the Besiendershuis in Nijmegen, Studio Frank Havermans has added two temporary timber structures to the historic building. The Slender House and The Hanging Chamber are positioned against the east and west facades, creating new spaces for artistic production, performance, and public interaction while referencing medieval wood construction.

The lightweight plywood frames deliberately echo scaffolding, yet they stand as independent architectural elements. By occupying the footprint of a demolished house and leaning against the old facade, the project draws attention to the building's history while extending its cultural program into the urban realm. It offers a thoughtful model for engaging heritage with contemporary design.
