Unlike traditional museum displays, these commissions require movement and time. As Victor Hugo called Notre-Dame 'a vast symphony in stone,' here the building becomes a symphony of layered images and histories. The works are not just objects but catalysts for a pilgrimage, reaching a hopeful culmination at the top floor with Njideka Akunyili Crosby's portrait of the Obamas.
