Elliot James Kennedy builds his images by hand: photographing first, then painting, cutting, and collaging physical prints. The resulting layers of colour and torn paper give each frame a tactile, graphic energy. His commissions for Carhartt, Speedo, and Little Simz show a consistent language that feels both nostalgic and contemporary.

The artist’s process evolved during lockdown, when he began reworking old photographs with paint and cutouts. What started as an experiment became his signature style, now applied to fashion campaigns and editorial portraits. Kennedy cites Bill Brandt and Richard Avedon as early influences, but his bold primary palettes and spliced compositions push his work firmly into graphic territory.
