Installation
Jen Catron and Paul Outlaw’s 65ft-long hot dog sculpture is back in Times Square, now dressed in red, white, and blue bunting and topped with a golden Liberty statue. The oversized frankfurter rises daily at noon to shoot confetti, turning a quintessential American snack into a spectacle of national identity and satire.
The installation, titled Hot Dog: The Second Serving, coincides with the US 250th anniversary. With its giant scale and absurdity, the work critiques patriotism while celebrating it. The accompanying pageant featured drag performers judged by local figures, adding layers of performance and community engagement to the public artwork.
