In 'Ticket non remboursable,' Milan-based photographer Luca Battaglia captures carousels across Europe as glowing, otherworldly objects. Using neutral density filters and 20-30 second exposures, he dissolves ornate details into ribbons of light and color. The results blur the line between documentary and abstraction, giving these familiar amusement rides a quiet, suspended energy.
Battaglia's interest lies not in the rides themselves but in what they represent—childhood, memory, and shifting public spaces. By emphasizing rotating lights and blurred structures, he makes each carousel feel like a drifting vessel from another time. The series invites us to see these everyday urban fixtures as strange, beautiful monuments to shared experience.
