Installation

Mexican design studio MESTIZ transforms wicker into a storytelling medium for Hermès window installations across Mexico. Oversized flowers sprout from striped planters, butterflies hover beside violet elephants, and fish swim through tulip fields. Each piece abandons its everyday role, becoming a character in a playful, folklore-infused landscape that invites passersby into a living, woven world.

The project pushes wicker beyond its familiar forms, shaping flower petals, butterfly wings, and crab claws from a single material. Exaggerated proportions and saturated colors draw on childhood fantasy, while each creature interacts with its neighbor. The result is a cohesive, imagined ecosystem that celebrates craft and narrative in public space.
